Share FAQs

Still wondering exactly how you get your fish share? Here are some commonly asked questions and answers.

  • A seafood share, also known as a Community Supported Fishery (CSF) share, allows consumers to buy a "small bulk share" of seafood. Each share represents products for one season and they range in small bulk sizes. Just like Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs connect people with local produce, our seafood share connects you to the source of your food, you learn more about where your seafood comes from, and you get to enjoy delicious seafood.

Unlike traditional CSAs, our seafood share lets customers select one or more products in the size and quantity they prefer for a specific season. You'll receive all the products you've ordered for your share in the season you selected at a specified delivery; it's not a recurring monthly subscription. You can choose to buy multiple products within one season, purchase the same product across multiple seasons (if available), or select various products throughout the year. This flexible share program lets you order what you want, in the size you want, during the season(s) that suits you best.

You can either purchase all your desired products at the start of each share season or wait until closer to the delivery dates. However, popular items can sell out quickly! So, don't delay—place your order now to secure your favorites!

  • While I always enjoy seeing our customers regularly, I know life can get busy. Our share program lets you buy in bulk, meaning you only need to pick up in the seasons you ordered fish. This gives you the flexibility and convenience of having seafood at home without making weekly or bi-weekly trips to see me. Plus, buying larger share sizes often comes with a discount per pound, offering you added value.

  • You're in luck! To buy a package or two of our products, visit our calendar to see where our mobile seafood market will be docking or which farmers market our booth is at. Drop by our mobile market or booth to make a purchase and decide if you'd like to commit to a share. Hurry, though - products do run out!

  • For fin-fish fillet portions, you can choose from 5-, 10-, or 15-pound shares, while specialty cuts of our fin-fish come in 5.5-pound shares only. Our frozen smoked products are available in 3-, 6-, and 9-pound shares. Tinned products can be bought in quantities of 3, 6, or 12. Crab shares are offered in 3- and 6-pound options, while spot prawns (also known as shrimp) are available in 2-pound bags.

  • All our fin-fish is processed in Petersburg, Alaska by a small team of just five people. This hands-on approach means each fish is cut by hand rather than by machine. While machines can produce uniform, smaller fillet portions, hand-cutting adds a personal touch and supports the local economy. It also means each fillet is unique in size, reflecting the natural variation in fish sizes. So, expect some variation in fillet portion sizes—it's all part of our human touch. We take pride in the care the processing team puts into ensuring your fillets look and taste fantastic.

  • Absolutely not! Whether you choose to buy just one product for a season or multiple products in each season, it is entirely up to you. It's all about your preferences, how much you plan to consume, and your budget.

  • No, we don't operate like online seafood share companies that lock you into monthly or quarterly subscriptions. We empower you to select what you want, how much you want, and which season you want it in. If you find yourself running low or craving more, simply order again in upcoming seasons, provided the product is available.

  • Absolutely not! You simply need to place your order before we start delivering for each season. We usually close the share season about two weeks before our delivery schedule begins for that season. However, popular products, especially specialty cuts and smoked products, often sell out. So, if you have a favorite product in mind, it's best to order it as soon as you can.

  • The size of your freezer and its current contents will determine which share sizes can fit. Our "small bulk" share sizes of 5, 10, or 15 pounds are typically suitable for a regular 5 to 10 cubic feet freezer found in refrigerator models. If you plan to get multiple shares in one season, make sure you have enough space before pickup—or perhaps enlist the help of understanding friends and family to hold onto it for you! Be careful, though, pieces might go missing. 😊

  • Because our fish is the best! Seriously though, we're unique because we catch the majority of the seafood shares we offer, and when we don't, we partner with trusted fishers who care just as much about quality and sustainability as we do. Plus, we're proud to be Vermont locals! Being your Vermont neighbor, we're all about supporting our community. Living here also means we can reschedule a pick-up time if you ever miss one. We value honesty, transparency, and delivering responsibly caught, high-quality seafood to our fellow Vermonters (or VT visitors).

Plus, many online seafood companies advertise "free shipping," but they often include that cost in the price per pound of the seafood. This means our pricing is significantly lower than seafood that's shipped directly to your door, which is a win for you!

  • They are subject to change, but in general (In alphabetical County order) they are:

    Addison County: Middlebury

    Caledonia County: Hardwick

Chittenden County Charlotte, Richmond, South Burlington, Westford

Grand Isle County: South Hero (Summer and Fall only)

    Lamoille County: Stowe or Morrisville

    Orange County: Randolph

    Rutland County: Rutland

    Washington County: Montpelier, Waitsfield, Waterbury

    Windham County: Brattleboro

    Windsor County: White River Junction

  • If you can't make it to any of the scheduled pick-up locations or times, don't worry! We're usually able to arrange an alternative meeting time or place after the regular pick-up times for the season have ended—after all, we're Vermont locals! In rare cases, you might need to wait until the next share season's delivery schedule. Rest assured, we'll keep your seafood safely stored in our freezers set to -10°F or below until we can meet.

If we need to deliver to a location off our regular route, there will be a $25 delivery fee. And if all else fails and we can't distribute your shares, we'll refund your payment in full. So, there's no risk in purchasing a share!

  • Check out our calendar to find where our mobile seafood market docks or visit us at one of the four farmers markets we participate in. You can also see which seafood share seasons are still open and find out if what you're looking for is available in an upcoming season.
